Master of Artificial Intelligence - Warsaw School of Computer Science

Master of Artificial Intelligence

The Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence offers students both theory and practice so that the students can understand and implement machine learning (ML) based applications.

The speed and impact of recent advances in machine learning has been unprecedented over the last few years with the technology sometimes running ahead of knowledge of how to build such systems effectively and reliably (with a lot of painful lessons being learned in the process).

This has created an unmet demand for ML Engineers who can take these recently developed technologies and make them work in the real-world. At the same time, how to apply these new ML methods to solve real-world problems is often in the heads of practitioners who have been learning by doing over the last few years.

Challenges for practitioners include the design and use of ML algorithms, the design and implementation of suitable architectures, how to deploy such systems at scale and an understanding of the risks and opportunities.

This course is suitable if you wish to acquire the knowledge and practical skills necessary to enter this specialism. The knowledge and, above all, practical skills acquired during your studies will allow you to feel comfortable in any IT project that relies on AI technologies in its delivery.

The Course in Detail

The MSc in Artificial Intelligence will provide you with a sound understanding of designing, analysing and engineering ML systems.

The course will, along with the valuable academic qualification, give you access to the latest and freshest thinking on how to apply ML technologies to develop reliable, effective and innovative solutions for business and industry.

The specialist content of this course has been developed as part of the EU-funded ARISA project. Derived from extensive analysis of industry needs, the project has developed a detailed analysis of the skills that industry wants. WSCS is also participating on standardisation initiatives regarding AI skills. This ensures that the course is as up to date as possible in this fast-moving field.

Recognising the needs of busy professionals, master’s studies at WSCS are conducted in a mixed “hybrid” mode, i.e. on-site and on-line (the choice is up to you). All classes are recorded and made available to you along with the materials prepared by lecturers, with specialist units conducted by active ML researchers and professionals.

The program consists of the following core subjects:

  • Information Systems Modeling and Analysis
  • Distributed Processing
  • Advanced Software Engineering
  • Advanced Object-Oriented Design
